There's a Ashley Simpson Fansite explaining everything! here's an outtake from the explanation: "Ashlee was then going to actually sing autobiography the same way they had planned to sing "pieces" in the begining but the drummer gave the sound guy the wroung cue. when he hits his sticks together or gives them a beat to start with before they start the song that is so they know when to start and what to play. well he gave the wrong cue and the bandd played the right song but the sound guy didnt. so after realizing that he had messed up the band quickly started to play "pieces" again and the sound guy quickly turned off "pieces" and turned on ashlees mic so that she could sing the song. but once again the voice coach said no. so they cranced up the amps and drum mics and let them play while Ashlee was walked off stage not knowing that her mic was on at one point in time so she could sing."

This may raise a few eyebrows, but it won't do anything to change the industry, I'm afraid...
Hey, I hope I'm wrong, but with the airwaves being dominated by 'pop' acts(not artists)like this, I can't help but to be skeptical.
Didn't Britney have the balls to go live on SNL her last time out? I respect that...but it's only 'normal'...

More irony...as soon as she realized (I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt) that things were going awry, she started dancing around.
She blamed the drummer...at least, I am reading that and it seems they are blaming the drummer, that was written by someone with a tenuous grasp on English.

The posting said: "Alright here is the scoop on what happened. Ashlee's voice has yet again been acting up. Her performance about 3-4 weeks ago on TRL was canceled when she couldn?t sing. The same thing happened here. She had been singing all day during the sound check and then complained to her voice coach that her throat hurt. Blame the band... that is ***king lame. You can actually hear the band shift tunes to match the lyrics so they can cover the sound enginer/lyric playback person's mistake. To bad they had already played that tune in the 1st set otherwise they probably could have pulled it off. If you look closely you can see a smirk on the bass players face. The band did what any pros would do but Ashley decided to walk off stage. Sure blame the band publicly... but anyone in the music industry with a brain knows what really happened here.
I saw the first set and thought there was something really weird going on with the vocals. I wish I had stayed awake to see this go down live.

THAT is such a crock........to say they start the TRACK after the drummer gives a beat or counts his stics? Do tey really think we are that stupid? That is virtually impossible for the drummer to start playing and hope he is 'in' time when the track starts.

It's the classic BS Blame the Drummer game. THAT is SO "bush league" it isnt funny. Just goes to show ya the age & IQs of the participants. Too much hype & cash; too LITTLE talent or common sense. It's also called, "[beating the] bandwagon." I might add the "7-P's" - Proper [Prior] Planning Prevents [Piss] Poor Performance. You only have to have this type of thing happen but ONE time to make sure it never happens again.
